Our San Diego crew has been the local face of Rowan Construction Group since we opened here. We’re the people who show up in uniform, background-checked, with a tablet full of photos from your last visit and a written scope for the one ahead. What ties us together isn’t a poster on the wall - it’s the discipline of doing the job the same way whether it’s a kitchen in La Jolla or an ADU in Chula Vista. Grant Rowan, Owner

I’m the one who answers when something’s gone off-track and needs fixing. I started Rowan in 2007 after watching too many jobs finish with a bill that looked nothing like the estimate customers had agreed to. The Haven Standard came from that - Clause 1 is the written price before anyone starts, and Clause 3 is the 365-Day Done Right Promise, which means if we didn’t get it right, we come back and make it right, printed on every page, not hidden behind an asterisk. I still walk sites personally when a project crosses into multiple trades, because that’s where the handoffs get messy and where a flat price can turn into a surprise if nobody’s watching. On a kitchen remodel in Point Loma last year, we found the subfloor had been cut for a plumbing chase that wasn’t on any permit drawing. I sat with the homeowner, sketched the repair, wrote the change order, and had them sign before we touched a saw. That’s the administrative discipline Haven acquired us for, and it’s why our projects finish within a few percent of the number we agreed to.

Mike T., Lead Technician - Roofing & Exterior

Mike’s been on roofs in San Diego County for nineteen years, and he can tell you the difference between a GAF Timberline HDZ install in coastal Encinitas and one inland where the Santa Ana winds hit harder. He’s GAF Master Elite certified and carries Owens Corning Preferred Contractor status, which means our customers get the full manufacturer warranty, not a pro-rated version. Mike’s the guy who climbs up with a camera before he climbs down with a quote - his photo records show the exact shingle layer count, the condition of the underlayment, and whether the soffit ventilation’s choked with debris. Off the job, he restores vintage motorcycles and brings that same patience to matching existing roof lines on home additions.

Sandra K., Senior Installer - Kitchen & Bath

Sandra started as an apprentice cabinet installer in 2012 and now runs our most complex kitchen and bath remodels. She’s certified in KraftMaid and Wellborn cabinet systems, and she’s the one who catches when a field measurement doesn’t match the shop drawings before the boxes arrive. On a recent bathroom remodel in Clairemont, she noticed the wall tile layout would have left a 5/8-inch sliver at the window - she redrew the pattern, got the homeowner’s sign-off on the revised scope, and ordered the corrected quantities before demolition started. Sandra’s detail-obsessed in the way that saves money: catching it on paper, not on the saw. She surfs dawn patrol at Tourmaline and has a running bet with Mike about who’ll spot more permit violations in the wild.

David R., Service Coordinator

He’s been with Rowan since 2019 and knows which technician has experience with Techo-Bloc permeable pavers versus Belgard porcelain, or whether a home addition in San Diego proper needs a coastal development permit or just a standard plan check. David schedules every visit with a two-hour window, confirms the crew’s background-check status, and makes sure the photo record link hits the customer’s inbox within an hour of the crew leaving. David grew up in Tijuana and crosses the border weekly to visit family; his Spanish is fluent, and he’s our point person when a homeowner prefers to review the scope in their first language.

Jesse M., Apprentice - Multi-Trade

Jesse joined us in 2023 after completing the Associated General Contractors of California apprenticeship program. He’s rotating through every trade we offer - kitchen, bath, roofing, windows and doors, fence, driveway and pavers, home additions and ADU - because Rowan builds technicians who understand how the systems connect, not just how to install one piece. Right now he’s deep in ADU framing, learning how weep screed placement at the slab edge prevents moisture intrusion in San Diego’s marine climate. Jesse’s job is to ask the questions that experienced crews stop asking out loud, and he’s good at it - he caught a window rough opening that was framed for a standard unit when the order specified a high-performance Marvin insert with different nailing fin dimensions. He hikes Cowles Mountain most weekends and is slowly replacing every tool in his bag with ones he’s bought himself, which the rest of us recognize as the mark of someone staying in the trade.
